Stop Letting the Wrong Goggles Disrupt Your Swim

Leaking lenses, fogged-up vision, and painful seals can quickly turn a productive swim into a frustrating one. It is difficult to concentrate on your stroke, pace, or breathing when you are repeatedly stopping to clear your lenses, tighten a strap, or press your goggles back into place.

The wrong goggles can also affect confidence. A competitive swimmer may worry that their goggles will move during a dive or tumble turn, while a junior swimmer may become reluctant to put their face in the water if the seals feel uncomfortable. Even regular fitness swimmers can find themselves cutting sessions short because of pressure around the eyes, restricted vision, or glare from bright pool lights.

These problems don’t always mean that swimming goggles simply do not work for you. They can be signs that the shape, lens type, or fitting system is not suited to your face or the way you swim. Training, junior, mirrored, and competition swimming goggles are designed for different situations, so finding the right type can make every length feel clearer, more comfortable, and less distracting.

Find the Right Goggles for the Way You Swim

Choose swimming goggles according to where you swim, how often you train, and what you want to achieve in the water. The best pair is not necessarily the most expensive. It is the pair that fits securely, provides the right level of visibility, and supports the type of swimming you do.

Racing goggles are designed for club swimmers and competitors who need a stable, streamlined fit during starts, turns, and faster swimming. Training goggles often tend to prioritise softer seals, wider vision, and lasting comfort during regular or longer pool sessions. However, many people wear the same pair for racing and training if they find a pair that fits well. Junior goggles use smaller proportions and simpler adjustment systems to help children feel comfortable and confident during lessons and training.

For outdoor pools and brightly lit environments, mirrored swimming goggles can help reduce glare and distracting reflections. Clear or lightly tinted lenses may be better suited to darker indoor pools, while dark-tinted lenses can help maintain clearer vision during longer sessions. A combination of tint and mirror determines which environment is best.

Shop by swim type to narrow down your options:

Racing: Performance-focused goggles for training at speed and competition.

Training: Comfortable everyday goggles for lessons, club sessions, and fitness swimming.

Junior: Child-friendly goggles with softer seals and an easier fit.

Outdoor and Bright Light: Mirrored and tinted lenses designed to reduce glare.
