If you were looking to be inspired by a marine creature for their incredible speed and manoeuvrability in the water, the weedy sea dragon would not be it. Propelled by two tiny fins working at up to seventy beats per second, it travels at a blistering top speed of one hundred and fifty metres per hour, making it arguably the least threatening presence in the ocean. But the weedy sea dragon does not seem to care. It simply drifts through the water in its elaborate leafy appendages, completely at peace with its own mediocrity, operating on the quiet but unshakeable belief that it doesn't matter if you win. It just matters how you look when you cross the line.
